The bus station is owned by Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). It was inaugurated on 23 September 1990 and was officially named as Telugu Satavahana Prayana Pranganam with its current name of Pandit Nehru Bus Station. This is the major bus station in Andhra Pradesh. The PNBS bus station is the Fourth biggest and busiest Bus station in India 〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=PNBS video and information )〕  after Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad bus stations. Many buses from other states like Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana arrive at this bus station daily. The Vijayawada bus station is well connected to each and every town and city in Andhra Pradesh State. PNBS covers an area . There are 62 platforms in total with two terminals, a Departure terminal with 48 platforms and an Arrival terminal with 14 platforms. A waiting hall for Reserved Passengers and AC lounges for AC Reserved passengers are also provided by APSRTC. There are also food courts located in bus terminus with also space for Car, Scooter parkings and Bus parking. ==Expansion== Expansion of the Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) by Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is on the cards. A proposal to this effect has been submitted to the Government with an initial expansion plan at an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore.The new structure proposed to be constructed in the low-lying area abutting the highway will have nearly 20 additional platforms.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=PNBS Expansion on cards )〕 The Pandit Nehru Bus Station in the city has attained a new look. The place now exudes a refreshing touch of elegance, thanks to the long-awaited air-conditioned deluxe Volvo lounge that has been opened on platform no. 29.
